Our SPF50+ Promise, Independently
Verified
We know parents are asking harder questions about sunscreen — and we think that's a good thing. This page exists because trust should be earned, not assumed. Here's exactly how our sunscreen is tested, who tested it, and what the results show.
Not all SPF50+ sunscreens are the same
In recent years, independent testing has revealed that some sunscreens marketed as SPF50+ delivered
significantly lower protection than claimed. For parents choosing sunscreen for babies and children, that gap between label and reality is a real concern.
At Lullaby, our SPF50+ Sensitive Skin Sunscreen is independently tested to international standards by
an accredited laboratory — not just in formulation, but as a finished, shelf-ready product.
TGA-registered. Not just a cosmetic sunscreen.
Not all sunscreens go through the same process to reach the shelf. In Australia, sunscreens where sun protection is the sole purpose are classified as therapeutic goods — held to stricter standards around formulation, independent testing, and manufacturing than products where SPF is simply an added feature. Lullaby SPF50+ Sensitive Skin Sunscreen is registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG: 391791). That means it's been independently tested, formally assessed, and manufactured under pharmaceutical-grade conditions, giving you and your family peace of mind.

Australian regulations require a tested SPF of 60 or above to carry the SPF50+ label. Ours meets that requirement.
Tested by Eurofins Dermatest
Our sunscreen was tested by Eurofins Dermatest, an internationally accredited testing laboratory based in Sydney,
Australia. Eurofins is one of the world's leading laboratory networks for cosmetic and sunscreen product testing,
operating across multiple countries with standardised protocols.
Tested to the standards that matter
ISO 24444:2010
The international in-vivo method for measuring Sun Protection Factor. Testing is conducted on human volunteers using a controlled UV source, measuring the minimum dose of UV radiation required to produce visible redness on both unprotected and sunscreen-protected skin. The ratio determines the SPF value.
AS/NZS 2604:2012
The Australian and New Zealand standard for sunscreen labelling and classification. To be labelled SPF50+, a product must achieve a tested SPF of 60 or above, and meet separate broad spectrum requirements covering both UVA and UVB wavelengths. Our sunscreen satisfies all criteria under this standard.
Tested, registered, and made with your family in mind — because when it comes to protecting the skin you love most, that peace of mind matters. We hope this page provides exactly that.

Questions we hear from our customers
SPF measures how much UV radiation is required to cause sunburn on protected skin compared to unprotected skin. An SPF50+ sunscreen filters approximately 98% of UVB radiation. To be labelled SPF50+ in Australia, a product must achieve a tested SPF of 60 or above under AS/NZS 2604:2012. Our sunscreen tested at a mean SPF of 61.0.
Broad spectrum means the sunscreen protects against both UVB rays (which cause sunburn) and UVArays (which penetrate more deeply and contribute to long-term skin damage). Both UVA and UVB
protection requirements must be satisfied for a product to be labelled SPF50+ under Australian andEuropean standards. Our sunscreen meets both.
Our SPF50+ Sensitive Skin Sunscreen uses UV filters that work by absorbing UV radiation — it is not a mineral/zinc-based sunscreen. This is what allows it to feel lightweight, blend invisibly, and leave zero
white cast on all skin tones. The active UV filters are all oxybenzone-free and have been selected for their suitability on sensitive and reactive skin.
Reapply every 2 hours, and after swimming or towelling dry. No sunscreen — including SPF50+ —maintains full effectiveness without reapplication. Sunscreen works best as part of a broader approach: combine with protective clothing, hats, shade, and avoiding peak UV hours.
