Why "free from" lists exist
For sensitive skin, what a formula leaves out matters just as much as what it puts in. That's not a scare tactic. It's simply how sensitive and reactive skin tends to work: fewer opportunities for something to go wrong, fewer places for a reaction to start.
This isn't about naming ingredients as dangerous. It's about informed choice. Some families avoid certain ingredients because their child has reacted to them before, or because a GP or dermatologist has suggested it as a precaution for eczema-prone skin. Others simply prefer to know exactly what's going into a product their baby wears every day. Both are good reasons, and neither requires treating any single ingredient as a villain.
Here's everything Lullaby's SPF50+ Sensitive Skin Sunscreen is free from, and the plain reason each one is left out.
Oxybenzone
Oxybenzone is a UV filter that some families choose to avoid, and it's commonly flagged in guidance for sensitive skin. Lullaby's sunscreen doesn't contain it.
We're not making a safety claim about oxybenzone one way or the other, and we're not comparing filter types to explain why. What we can say plainly is that for families who've already decided they'd rather avoid it, this sunscreen doesn't require a trade-off.
Homosalate
Homosalate is another UV filter some families prefer to avoid. Lullaby's sunscreen doesn't contain it. As with oxybenzone, we're not making a safety claim either way. It's simply not part of this formula.
Fragrance and essential oils
These two get grouped together because they function the same way on skin: as common triggers for sensitive and reactive skin, and often the reason a supposedly gentle product ends up causing a reaction anyway.
Lullaby's sunscreen contains no fragrance and no essential oils. If you want the fuller picture on why "fragrance-free" and "unscented" aren't the same thing, and why that distinction matters more than it seems, that's covered in a separate post worth reading alongside this one.
The rest of the list, plainly
Parabens. A preservative some families choose to avoid. Excluded so that families avoiding it don't have to compromise.
Phthalates. Sometimes used as a solvent or fragrance carrier in cosmetics. Not part of this formula at all.
Sulphates. More commonly found in wash-off products like shampoo, but still worth confirming their absence here. There are none.
Petroleum. A common base ingredient in some skincare, left out of this formula by design.
Triclosan. An antibacterial agent that's been phased out of many consumer products. It was never part of this one.
BPA. Not a skincare ingredient as such, but relevant to packaging and manufacturing. Not present here either.
None of these is framed as harmful. They're simply excluded, and stated clearly, for families who've already made that choice for their own reasons.

FAQ
Is it oxybenzone-free?
Yes. Lullaby's SPF50+ Sensitive Skin Sunscreen contains no oxybenzone. It's one of ten ingredients the formula is free from, alongside homosalate, parabens, phthalates, and fragrance.
Is it fragrance-free?
Yes, genuinely fragrance-free rather than just unscented, meaning there's no fragrance ingredient anywhere in the formula, including no masking fragrance.
Does it contain essential oils?
No. Essential oils are excluded from the formula for the same reason fragrance is: they're a commonly reported trigger for sensitive and reactive skin.
Has the SPF been independently verified?
Yes. The sunscreen's SPF performance has been independently tested by Eurofins Dermatest, with a mean SPF of 61.0 (95% CI 57.8 to 64.1), to ISO 24444 and AS/NZS 2604:2012.
